The incentives were presented by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who thanked them for their efforts on behalf of all Sarawakians.
“Sarawak has become a powerhouse of sports because of your efforts. You fought, you ran, you swam, you lifted, and all because of Sarawak.
The main thing is the honour for Sarawak. Even though we missed out this time, we will remember Perak in 2018 and I am sure that will be the time,” he said at the ceremony held at a leading hotel here recently, reported TheBorneoPost.
Adenan pointed out that because of the athletes’ participation in Sukma, Sarawak is united in showing support for their home state.
“Your contribution to unity makes you an honour to Sarawak. The days you participated in Sukma will be remembered in your lives. Not many people can participate in Sukma. This will be the best memory for all of you,” he said.
Also present last night were Adenan’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Jamilah Anu, deputy chief minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing, Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Sports Assistant Minister and chef-de-mission Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nassar, Public Health Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and others.
