Headless but not rudderless

Sarawak Football Association (FAS) is racing against time to beat the deadline to elect a new president.

The State association has to hold an emergency general meeting after seven days from its annual general meeting to instal a new official number one.

Datu Sudarsono Osman was reported as declined to be re-elected to the post.

This was announced by its new deputy president Abdul Wahab Rahim on last Saturday after the AGM.

He replaced Datu Abu Bakar Marzuki who also declined to be re-elected.

Obviously all the efforts to look out for a new captain before the AGM failed to produce the desirable result.

This has caused the association could not elect anybody for the post.

An FAS official, when asked about this strange arrangement yesterday, said the mandate was given to the new committee during the AGM to look out for the new chief.

He was also confident that the installation of the new chief could be done "as soon as possible".

Despite of this 'shortcoming', the State FA was confident that it could bring back the glory days of Sarawak football next season and continue the legacy of their predecessors.

The State FA's vice presidents are Razali Dolhan, Cassidy Morris, Jamil Othman, Duke Janteng, Abang Suhardie, Mohd Saif and Dato Posa Majais.
