The four were a weightlifter, a boxer and two archers, who had won medals at the Sarawak Malaysia Games in July.
PETALING JAYA: Four athletes who competed in the Sarawak Malaysia Games in July have tested positive for banned substances, the New Straits Times Online reported.
This was confirmed by the National Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (Adamas).
All four won medals in the under-21 competition, the news portal stated.
The weightlifter tested positive for steroids while the boxer had diuretics in his system.
The two archers tested positive for sibutramine.
Adamas Unit Head Nishel Kumar said the National Sports Association (NSA) has until Oct 15 to decide on whether its athletes want to have their “B” spare samples opened for testing.
All four athletes may face a four-year ban in line with the 2015 World Anti-Doping Agency code, if found guilty, the report added.
