Samarahan FA players received a good tidings in the form of a RM10,000 incentive from the association's patron Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during a dinner last night.
However, the incentive was not without any string attached to it.
Karim told the players, he would give RM5,000 before the tournament started while the rest would depend on the team's performance.
He said if the team entered the final, he would give another RM2,000 - making the total RM7,000.
Karim added, if the team won the cup, he would add another RM3,000 to make his total contribution totalling to RM10,000.
However, he quick to add that the incentive must not be seen as the main reason for playing hard in the tournament.
He pointed out that the incentives were merely meant to assist the team to smoothen the running of the team.
May be the money could be used by the team to have a better meal after match, etc., he said when delivering his speech.
He also urged the players to give their best whenever they were in the pitch.
"When we are taking part in a tournament, our mindset is to win the tournament and not just to make numbers," said Karim, who is also the Youth (Rural) Assistant Minister.
Samarahan FA are in the Group C with Limbang, Betong and Mukah.
The team's first match is against Mukah on this Saturday at 8:15am at the Unimas Stadium.
Also present during the dinner were the FAS vice president Razali Dolhan, the Samarahan FA president Haidel Heli, the Samarahan FA team manager Ismawi Muhammad and Temenggong Hj Chek Hj Bujang.
