ATM FA and PDRM FA to vanquish Kuching FA to win Sarawak Cup

KUCHING: Sarawak Cup defending champions Kuching FA have to come on strong in their group matches in order to gain respect from aspiring title contenders.

Nowadays, a down-to-earth attitude is usually seen as having lack of confidence.

Alas, how things have changed in sports!

While Kuching FA only aim to enter the final, the 2012 Sarawak Cup semifinalists ATM FA and PDTM FA have set their targets on the cup.

They want to be the champions for the 2014 edition of Sarawak Cup!

Between the two, ATM FA might have stronger drives to win the cup as they were already so close winning the cup in 2012 when their hopes were dashed by Wan Ismawi Wan Saet who scored minutes before the final whistle.

The final score was Kuching FA 1 ATM FA 0.

Therefore, it can be well understood on why the team are so determined to win the title this year - they were almost 'there' in 2012; and this year they badly want to be 'there', i.e. as the champions!

Meanwhile PDRM FA's determination is stemmed from their desire to improve their performance as compared with the previous outing.

They were at the third place which they shared with Limbang FA.

However, Limbang FA could be a serious contender for the Cup if the team are comprised of many players who had taken part in the Isuzu Youth Cup last year.

If the team met Kuching FA in the final, it would be the reminiscence of the youth cup final which was won by the former.

For this edition, Limbang FA aim to be one of the semifinalists.

While attentions are given to the four teams by virtue of being the top four teams in the 2012 edition, many might be taken aback with Samarahan FA.

While at a glance it could be a tall order to achieve their target to enter the final, the team might have the necessary elements to accomplish it.

By and large, many teams are hoping to get through the group stage including Sibu FA, Sri Aman FA and Betong FA.

A handful of them, however, eager to progress further in the tournament by setting a target to reach at least the semifinals - namely Miri FA and Bintulu FA.

Meanwhile Sarikei FA aim to go as far as they could in the Sarawak Cup.

For Kapit FA and SUKMA 2016, the tournament is seen as a platform to groom their players.
