Samarahan FA emerge Sarawak Cup champion


Samarahan FA compensated their lack of stamina with creative football to outwit ATM FA in the final of 2014 Sarawak Cup at the State Stadium on last Saturday

Although the opponents were aggresive in their efforts to find the net, the Samarahan FA keeper Mohd Zakaria was always kept his cool to thwart any dangerous attempt towards the goalmouth.

As a matter of fact, the credits should be given to Zakaria for safeguarding the goalmouth from being penetrated by the opponents when his team mates were already exhausted - committing more and more silly faults as the match progressed.

Kapit not in Sarawak Cup 2014

Kapit FA are not taking part in this year's Sarawak Cup tournament due to financial constraints.

This was disclosed by a source to The Kuching Sports News.

He said Kapit did make serious efforts to be in Kuching but unfortunately they failed to raise enough money to pay for the trip.

SEDC to join RetroWalk Guinness World bid

KUCHING (Sept 19): Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is keen to be a part of the RetroWalk Guinness World Record attempt on Oct 11, thus is sending a team of over 200 to the event.

Karim dangles RM10,000 infront of Samarahan FA players to win Sarawak Cup

Samarahan FA players received a good tidings in the form of a RM10,000 incentive from the association's patron Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during a dinner last night.

However, the incentive was not without any string attached to it.

Karim told the players, he would give RM5,000 before the tournament started while the rest would depend on the team's performance.

Sibu boys covered by RM60,000 group insurance

The team management of Sibu FA are really serious to find ways that could help the boys to play football without having to worry anything when they are in the pitch.

"We want them to give 100 percent focus on football when they are in the pitch.

"We don't them to be in a situation whereas they don't want to give their best efforts because they afraid that no one will take care of them when they are injured," said the team manager Dzulkarnaen Ahmad to The Kuching Sports News.

‘No more excuses’, MSNS director warns

KUCHING (Sept 11): Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) acting director Lucas Kalang Laeng wants sports association to gear up for next year’s Sukma.

He expects the associations to start their de-centralised training by the end of September and centralised training by December this year.

“I believe that the people of Sarawak should not be hearing excuses such as not given enough time to prepare anymore as it is getting old. So here is a reminder to all of the sports association involved,” he said when interviewed by reporters in his office yesterday.

These associations, he continued, are also expected to finalise their shadow team by the end of September.

A good time for exposure trips, he suggested, is from this September to next April.

Nur Ashad and Awang Azizan are Miri FA's precious assets

KUCHING: Miri FA are expecting two talented young players 21 year old Mohd Nur Arsyad Tamit and 20 year-old Awang Azizan Awang Sophian to shine in the Sarawak Cup this month.

Azizan is a former Harimau C striker while Arsyad has received a call-up to attend a selection trial for the Crocs.

Although they never played together, the duo manage to click from their first training.

Piala Sarawak: Skuad SUKMA 2016 diyakini mampu mencabar

KUCHING (Sept 04): Pengendali skuad SUKMA 2016, Johnny Dominicus menaruh keyakinan tinggi terhadap kudrat pemain mudanya untuk melakar kejutan pada kempen Piala Sarawak 2014 yang akan berlangsung dari 20 hingga 27 September depan.

Menurut Johnny, persediaan skuad yang dibarisi semua pemain bawah 19 tahun itu berjalan dengan baik dan bersedia untuk memberikan cabaran pada temasya dwitahunan itu.

Silat Hailam Laut emerge champions

Perguruan Seni Silat Hailam Laut beat two perguruans to emerge as the champion in a silat tournament held at the Kuching Waterfront in conjunction with the Satok Fest recently.

The other two perguruans were Perguruan Seni Silat Kibau and Perguruan Seni Silat Hidayah Melayu.

The prizes were given away by the Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Rioters are urged to come forward and surrender themselves

KUCHING (Sept 03): Police have launched a manhunt to track down individual believed to have been involved in the riot at the state Stadium in Kuching during a Malaysia Cup match between Sarawak and Perak, last Saturday.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman said the suspected individuals should come forward and surrender themselves as their photographs would be published in the local media.

Following the riot which left a trail of damage to police and public property, the police carried out a post-mortem to identify weaknesses and list down recommendations to improve security in the future.

Young Croc Rahim is top scorer in U-19 Youth Cup

He scored 9 goals in the tournament - hat tricks in 3 matches in a row.

He only failed to find the net in two matches against Kedah and Sekolah Sukan Tengku Mahkota Ismail.
