MIRI: Preparations are right on track in Miri which will host three sports – Karate, Sepak Takraw and Sailing – for the upcoming 18th Sukma.
Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) Miri officer-in-charge Harifen Mansor told The Borneo Post yesterday that Miri Indoor Stadium has been upgraded and repaired to meet the criteria to hold the karate and sepak takraw competitions.
“Repair and upgrading works on our Indoor stadium here has been completed, however there are still minor things such as lightings that have yet to be replaced,” he said.
On athletes preparation, he disclosed that the sailors are training daily except on Wednesday.
“For Sepak Takraw, they are having their training in Kuching so I do not really know about their training.
“As for Karate, some are having their training in Kuching as they are still studying while athletes who are school leavers have their training here,” he said.
Sukma Sarawak 2016 will take place from July 22-31.
Apart from Miri, Kuching and Sibu will play host to 24 and two sports respectively.
